We’re excited to introduce DroneDev — an Android companion computer app that brings intelligent navigation to your existing drone setup.
The Problem#
GPS is fragile. Urban canyons, dense forests, jamming, or simple hardware failure — when GPS goes down, most drones lose their ability to navigate. Return-to-home fails. Waypoint missions abort. You’re left flying manually, hoping you can get your drone back safely.
Our Solution#
DroneDev runs on the phone you already carry. Connect it to your flight controller via USB-OTG, and it becomes a second brain for your drone:
- Dead reckoning keeps you navigating when GPS drops
- Visual homing guides you back using landmarks your camera can see
- AI detection spots objects of interest in real time
All processing happens on-phone. No internet required. No cloud dependency.
What’s Next#
We’re currently testing with SpeedyBee F405 hardware running INAV 7+. Stay tuned for benchmarks, flight test videos, and release updates.
